Search Engine Optimisation, they often claim, will get your site to no.1 in Google in no time – but at an extra cost – anything between £200 and £2000 and much more, depending on the size of the website.

SEO is worth the investment if it is treated organically and not commercially. Your website should be analysed for keyword richness and keyword deployment – and a hundred other things which inevitably take time and therefore cost money. If a web developer finds the solution via advertising your site through AdWords or Pay Per Click (PPC) – it’s often a quick fix. It’s far better that your site’s basic construction and content are sound and search engine friendly.

Any web developer who guarantees to get you to the top and stay there is to be treated with much suspicion. Absolutely nobody can guarantee a high ranking – and even when the SEO is done properly it can still take up to 6 months for the results of the web designer’s work to yield results.
